- After a month of hiatus, The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday with a new episode that will begin a new chapter in history - the war for the cure. Back Rebekah, played by Claire Holt, having been staked (again) by his brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and she wants two things: Vengeance and catch up. "Rebekah gathers Stefan, Elena and Caroline at school and basically torture them psychologically," says Holt. "She asked about the tattoo, and the priest, and the relationship between Stefan and Elena, and makes the light go on some uncomfortable truths. Definitely going to be much more difficult for Caroline, Elena and Stefan than Rebekah.
Some of those "inconvenient truths" definitely cause the fans reactions, empathy or anger instead of the script certainly caused some reaction from Holt. "I was so excited, I sent a text message to Julie Plec immediately after reading it, and I was like, 'My goodness, thank you very much. I love this episode, '"says Holt. "It was one of the few moments that really has control Rebeca and she loves it. It was fun playing the game of 'Truth or Dare'. He was one of my favorite episodes. '
We know from the promo that the brother of Rebekah and Klaus, Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) also returns in the episode. "He is there to help Rebecca get the answers she wants, and brings Shane [David Alpay] to school to be questioned too," says Holt. "The result is not too good for Shane."
Regarding the relationship with Klaus Rebekah, Holt says: "She is absolutely devastated that has betrayed. It has done so many times now, I'm not sure I will be able to rebuild that trust. It would take too long and would be a really long road for them, so they can come to feel so close to each other. Right now everyone is on his side. Rebekah's goal is to find a cure, and she really does not care about anyone else. '
It's hard to say if this makes it more or less likely that the spin-off of Vampire Diaries, called The Originals, Klaus-centered, has a place to Rebekah. "I have not read a script for the episode of TVD April will serve as a pilot for the spin-off," says Holt. "I guess we have to wait to find out."
