Julie Plec talks about The Originals

Last week there was news about CW actively developing a derivative Vampire Diaries producer Julie Plec with that would focus on Klaus (Joseph Morgan) - The Original title - and that in the April 25 episode as an episode outside the wire where the series goes. While not saying much about a program with an unknown end, Entertainment Weekly (EW) has obtained information from it.

EW: The idea of making a derivative has been around for a while. Why now been decided?

Julie Plec: It's something we've been talking for two years, we have contemplated trying to realizase last year, but had too much work to do in too little time. So that gave us a chance this year to spend more time working on it - seeing if, obviously, our actors had an interest in following the lives of these characters (laughs) and if there was a story to tell. Everything was done in a way that we feel that we do not retract our baby more important, Vampire Chronicles, and give us an opportunity to expand the universe with characters we've had another year to learn.

EW: What can you say about the episode of April 25?

Julie Plec: The idea is that a turn of events in Mystic Falls Klaus sent to New Orleans to solve a mystery. We blow that some people creating a movement against him that may interest you. So you head to New Orleans to try to figure out who is against him and he is trying to do. And as you discover the mystery, it takes you back to the city that a few hundred years, he was one of the original settlers and helped in its construction. He is reunited with a vampire who turned his back on his day, Marcel, who has created a list of rules and an entire society to the supernatural community that is in charge - something like Hats off to Klaus and say, "taught me everything I know." So Klaus's protégé is now the king of the supernatural community in New Orleans and Klaus takes a step back towards that.

EW: Have you already taken the role of Marcel?

Julie Plec: No, start testing, I think, next week or next.

EW: How do you describe it?

Julie Plec: He is the life of the party. It is evil and dangerous, and is a rock star. If anything, it's that vampire is going to party and live life in a big way, he knows how to play the most in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

EW: And if you were to get into the next round, the place would be New Orleans.

Julie Plec: Yes, when I talked about it with the chain and the study, said, "somehow, the French Quarter, with less than 3,000 inhabitants, is the ultimate small town." So history is still a small city, is a city that we all know very well. We all have our own fantasies of party we have lived or wanted to live in New Orleans.

EW: The fans have been wondering what Klaus would keep busy, and how Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will be involved.

Julie Plec: That's all part of the great mystery. I will say that no one should assume anything about how to output, because with a little luck, everything will be a nice surprise for everyone.

EW: Is there a role for Elijah (Daniel Gillies) in the derivative, it has to be.

Julie Plec: Oh, says Julie Plec (laughs) and his obsession with Daniel Gillies, will always be a role for Elijah. That single question of whether there is interest in the world of Daniel Gillies in working with Julie Plec. But I can hope that the answer is yes.

EW: So you talked to him about it.

Julie Plec: Yes absolutely. You'd have to ask him where he is. By the way, make sure it's clear that I'm being ironic when I talk about myself in the first person (laughs).

EW: What about Rebekah (Claire Holt)? It's in the picture again this week when Vampire Diaries returns with new episodes, but she and Klaus are not very happy with each other.

Julie Plec: Right now, she is very angry with him, and their relationship has some other mountains to spend the next five episodes, much less than in the future program. I think she is another character who will be a tremendous asset for both programs. So it all comes to rest ahead of Rebekah, and the future of Claire with Rebekah, and all things that are indeterminate eas.

EW: Would you have the title of producer in both programs?

Julie Plec: I think so. Honestly, we have not talked about anything else you want to share that title with Caroline Dries on Vampire Chronicles and then be the producer in the originals. The good thing about Vampire Chronicles is that Caroline has been very successful during these past three years he has been in the program and is a great leader and a great writer, and knows the program inside and out. So I would still be there every step of the way, but she would have much more responsibility than they already have. And Mike Narducci, who is someone who has been very important in Vampire Chronicles, would have to come to the original and also take charge. So hopefully, two brilliant people who have grown up in the Vampire Chronicles universe can remain bright while we break in two programs.
