Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries premieres with positive numbers and the level of season 4. Last night the first episode gathered a total of 2.55 million viewers and a 1.2 in the 18-49 target. An hour later, the premiere of The Originals gathers 2.15 million viewers and a 0.9 in the 18-49 target, but loses little hearing regarding the TVD, some numbers are a bit low for a premiere and more if we note that next week will move to its schedule on Tuesday at 8 pm and could lose more hearing. Even the audience is lower than the premiere of Beauty and the Beast last year.

Prepare to not one but two deaths in the season 5 premiere tonight. One devastated one of our beloved characters and the other was part of the great mystery of the season.

Vampire Diaries Premiere: A Delena Romp, Matt's Sexy Summer, Silas' Agenda and 8 More Teasers
SPOILER ALERT!
The screeners gods have gifted us with a look at The Vampire Diaries‘ Season 5 premiere, and we simply couldn’t keep to ourselves about Elena and Caroline’s “functional” college fresh start.
Here are 11 teasers about Elena and Damon’s summer of love, Silas’ mission, Matt’s wild times, Katherine’s blisters (yep!) and more.
• The episode is called “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” and we’ll find out what everyone’s been up during the period thanks to some back-and-forth emails between Bonnie (via Jeremy’s help) and Elena, who’s spent the three months getting hot-n-heavy with Damon every chance she got, it seems.
• Matt lost two important things during his very steamy summer abroad, one of which will cause trouble for him. Let’s just say executive producer Caroline Dries is making good on her promise that the busboy is not a peripheral character this season.
• Silas, who has his sights set one specific goal, doesn’t waste too much time pretending to be Stefan.
• Like Felicity and every college show ever, Elena and Caroline’s three-person dorm room is ridiculously large… and has its own bathroom!

• Yes, we said three-person room. Since unbeknownst to them Bonnie is dead, Elena and Caroline get a mysterious new roommate, and the blonde immediately doesn’t take a liking to her.
• Katherine is human now, but rest assured she hasn’t lost any of her spark. Case in point: “I’m weak, and I’m slow. Do you have any idea what it’s like to run in heels? I have blisters.”
• Damon and Jeremy share a scene that may just make you forget about the time the vamp tried to kill Elena’s little bro and instead go, “Awww.”
• Tyler is MIA because, apparently, a wolf pack in Tennessee really needs his help.
• Although Elena is definitely with Damon, Stelena ‘shippers will still get a little something to tide them over.
• Bonnie’s scream during that scene from the Comic-Con sizzle reel is for a very horrifying reason.
• You know what puts a major damper on your first college rager? Not being able to enter the party because you need to be invited in. On the other hand, maybe that’s for the best….

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS Episode 5.01, "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER"
SPOILER ALERT
COLLEGE DAYS - After spending the summer desfrutando of his passionate relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and make sure that Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is adjusting to his return from the dead, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is delighted to enter the homes of students from the nearby University Whitmore with her new roommate, Caroline (Candice Accola). Still believing that Bonnie (Kat Graham) has been traveling all summer and will soon join them, Elena and Caroline are surprised when a student named Megan (guest star Hayley Kiyoko) appears and announces that they will share bedroom. Katherine (Nina Dobrev) makes an unexpected appearance at the Salvatore house and Damon begs help now that is human and vulnerable to his enemies. Matt (Zach Roering) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) return to Mystic Falls after spending a wild summer in Europe, where they found a mysterious beauty named Nadia (guest star Olgafonda). Elena can not help feeling that something is wrong with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Silas (Paul Wesley) makes an appearance at the party terrifying "End of Summer" in the town square. Lance Anderson directed the episode written by Caroline Dries.
Candice Accola on Caroline and Jesse
The Vampire Diaries Season 5 premiere is inching ever closer, and though things in Mystic Falls promise to be as crazy as ever, Candice Accola says Caroline and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are just looking for some normal. Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with the newly engaged actress while she was in hair and makeup for a shoot with Ford, and she explained why the vamps are attempting to leave the supernatural behind as they head to Whitmore College.
Can you tell us what you’re doing with Ford?
Ford is partnering up and helping CW launch and kick off on their series and season premieres. And by doing that they’ve enlisted agents to drive around their own Ford Fiesta, a 2014 Ford Fiesta, and go on these really exciting, fun adventures that they’re calling missions. And they get to go behind the scenes of their favorite CW shows to showcase their passion and their talent.
Will we see Caroline driving a Fiesta at college?
You know how Caroline loves her Ford Fiesta. I don’t think we’ve seen Caroline driving in college quite yet, but she’s definitely a Ford girl.

Between balancing me in Atlanta, him on the road or living in Denver, and then us working all over the place, we’re just focusing on seeing each other as much as we can.
Between the new guy Jesse, Tyler, and Klaus, Caroline basically has a different guy every day of the week. What can you tell us about Caroline and Jesse?
Caroline and Jesse. Jesse is a boy at college that Caroline and Elena meet and he happens to be very good looking, which is weird for The CW. They’re trying something new this year.

Hints on season 5
The new season will take us three months later, following a (relatively) quiet summer. But this is Mystic Falls, so peace has no chance, especially impersonating Stefan Silas. "We will explore this phenomenon doppelganger and how and why they exist in our mythology," reveals executive producer Caroline Dries, also expected the arrival of a "legitimate Great Villain" in the way it is "terrifying and create a new dynamics. "In terms of romance, the honeymoon period of Elena and Damon could be interrupted by his friendship with a fellow University (played by Shaun Sipos), while Caroline Tyler remains focused even when connected to Jesse (Kendrick interpreted by Sampson). Speaking of Tyler: Although the executive producer will not reveal when the hybrid, promises to be "in a very beautiful and appropriate" - and "a bit of attitude" about the fact that Klaus is well needed. Finally, Bonnie and Jeremy experiencing some connection problems that even AT & T MiFi can be resolved. Dries explains: "The external conflict is, 'I can not touch you,' and internal conflict is, 'Actually I have feelings for you, but I can not talk to them.'"
