At the end of season 4 of 'The Vampire Diaries', and Stefan, and Caroline, stabilized his love life, and that's the least that can be said of his sentimental moment. Both are now more or less single. And their friendship, getting stronger, could evolve into something more romantic, in the upcoming Season 5.
Obviously, this will be possible only when the story probably between Stefan and his double (doppelgänger) closes. But Julie Plec confirms that might have a story in this regard and said that we could see a lot this season Lexi showing her relationship with the protagonist, and she sees the relationship between Caroline and Stefan Similarly, seeing as his new Lexi Caroline.
For Julie Plec, the chemistry between Stefan and Caroline dating of Season 2: 'It has become his soul mate friendly ... are sincere. They are a lovely couple so maybe ... '.
